Evaluating The Issues

You May Not Need More Cardio. You May Need a Better Foundation.

Many women believe they should focus mainly on cardio, which will burn more calories, or they think they need to push themselves through another high-intensity workout.

The problem with that approach is simple. Cardio may burn calories, but won’t build the foundation your body needs for the years ahead.

Women over 40 need consistent strength training to maintain (and grow) muscle and support everyday function.

"After years of inactivity I started working with Kelly because I had a hard time walking up stairs without holding on ... I wanted to get back to where I was in my 60’s. Now I can confidently walk up stairs and I’m even able to skip with my grandkids and I feel so much better."

Training Built Around You

Your body has a history. Your exercise program should respect it. Our first 2-3 sessions are active, movement-based sessions.

Rather than simply talking about what you can and cannot do, I guide you through exercises and observe how your body responds.

This helps me understand your current strength, mobility, balance, endurance, and confidence—and gives us a clear starting point.

From there, we build a program specific to you.

How It Works

1. We Start With How You Move

We identify what already feels strong, where movement feels limited, and which exercises are appropriate for your current ability.

Women Hiking Outdoors

The goal isn’t to prove how hard you can work in one session. It’s to build strength and movement habits that support you for years to come.

I thought being healthy and active was enough. Then menopause changed the rules.

My body has changed more during the eight years since menopause than it did during any other stage of my life.

At 55, I was diagnosed with severe osteoporosis. The diagnosis shocked me because I had been healthy and active for most of my life. I had always valued movement, but I hadn’t been consistent with strength training. Then I developed a stress fracture in my foot as a result of the osteoporosis. That was even more upsetting than the diagnosis itself because it took months to heal.

Suddenly, osteoporosis wasn’t just something on a bone-density scan—it was affecting my body, my mobility, and the way I wanted to live my life. It became a wake-up call and changed the way I thought about strength, movement, and what it truly means to stay strong as we age.

This created a sense of urgency. I needed to understand what my body needed that was different than when I was younger. I wanted to learn how to build strength, support my bones, move well, and remain active for as long as possible.

That inspired me to become a certified personal trainer.

“I pursued this path not only to create a stronger future for myself, but to help other women do the same. I understand how unsettling it can feel when your body begins changing, when movements that once felt easy no longer do, or when you realize that being generally 'healthy' may not be enough to preserve your strength and independence.”

Exercise after 40 shouldn’t be about punishing your body or desperately trying to make it look younger.

It should be about learning what your body needs now, and how to leverage the body you have to still feel strong, healthy, and vibrant.
